Dr. William (Duncan) Shepard brings a rare depth of surgical training to Bublik Dental Implant and Surgical Center. As a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with a foundation in bioengineering, dentistry, and medicine, Dr. Shepard completes our practice into a full-service oral surgery environment — one you would be hard-pressed to find in any major city, let alone Central Wisconsin.

Dr. Shepard began at Rice University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering. From there, he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, followed by a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He then completed a rigorous Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at UAB, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year — a distinction reserved for the top surgical leader of the program.

Dr. Shepard is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a published researcher in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His training spans the full scope of OMS: dental implants, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, pathology, and anesthesia.

After years of training in Houston and Birmingham, Dr. Shepard chose Central Wisconsin deliberately. He wanted to bring world-class oral and maxillofacial surgery to a community that deserves it — a region where access to this level of specialized care has historically meant long drives to distant metro centers. He is committed to making sure the people of Wausau and the surrounding area no longer have to travel for the surgical expertise they need.
