So dentistry, it is on a mind of everyone. Everybody has different experiences. Me, growing as a kid, I had a really, really bad experience. I was the one who was terrified. I was the one who tried to avoid going to a dentist. About at the age of 20 something shifted, and I was like, it doesn’t have to be that way. I was starting to look more and more into becoming a dentist, you know, what it would take. It was overcoming my fear of dentistry. And then when I finally decided and was accepted into dental school, it started to make sense. You know, why would people be so nervous and why would be so terrified?
I always wanted to make that experience a lot better. The most rewarding aspect of my job is when a patient comes who has many time come to our office and it’s like a last resort. And we have those patients who suffer from orofacial pain and TMJ. Many times during their first visit, they start crying because first time in a couple of years, they are pain free. So that part’s like really, that’s really rewarding. That’s why we do what we do.
We are partnering with them in decisions about their care. You know, we do have extensive knowledge within our team and that’s what I’m sharing with my patients. So what I would hope for them to leave with is, hey, I got so many options and I understand them. So they are able to choose the best option for their care and they feel good about it. Not just, you know, oh, I was told and I guess, you know, that’s the best. No, they really feel good about their choices.
